“Sau Sing Chai” also known as “Ah Sau “ in the comic series is less than five feet tall, weighs about 100 pounds, and is forever nine and a half years old. With a popular and easy to understand Cantonese dialogue, it has a “Hong Kong-produced movie “style. The drawing styles are simple yet skilful with brilliant brushstrokes and readers often find the light-hearted plots very entertaining.” Sau Sing Chai has established an irreplaceable status in the Hong Kong comic industry. The character creation of “Sau Sing Chai” is inspired by the protagonist “Charlie Brown” in the American “Peanut Comics” and is the author’s favourite comic character. “Sau Sing Chai” is the first comic book in Hong Kong to set up a fan club.

about Comic Artist – Sheung Kwun Siu Koeng (1950-2017)

Sheung Kwun Siu Koeng (1950 – January 13.2017), also known as Ricky Chan. At a younger age, he loved listening to pop music such as “The Beatles” and “Elvis”; enjoyed watching foreign movies. He began his comic career at 16. Other than his usual pseudonym, he also used other names such as “Chan Siu Koeng”, “Ling Siu” as well as “Dillon”. The comic book “Sau Sing Chai” first issued in 1973 and was deeply loved and highly popular among readers – definitely set a significant milestone for Sheung Kwun Siu Koeng. In addition to “Sau Sing Chai”, his works included “Four Panel Comics Collection”, “Siu Koeng Art Book” and “Siu Koeng Comics Collection” etc. “Siu Koeng Comics Collection” provided a platform for many beginners who were interested in the comic industry and be able to demonstrate their artwork for more circulation. His support for the young apprentice were highly praised within the field.
