The creator of Old Master Q, Wong Chak (1925-2017), original named Alfonso Wong. In the early 1960s, using his eldest son’s name, Wong Chak began creating the Old Master Q comics under the pen name “Wong Chak” The first volume of the comic series, titled “Old Master Q and Mr. Chin” was published in 1964 by Ng Hing Kee Book & Newspaper Agency. The comic quickly gained popularity due to its humorous and concise content, becoming a long-standing bestseller in the comic sales charts. It became a sensation among Chinese communities worldwide, leading to the continuous publication of various series of Old Master Q comics to this day.
Joseph Wong, an architect and artist himself, took over the legacy of his father’s Old Master Q in 1995.
